Lishui

In Zhejiang province

Lishui is the largest prefecture by area in Zhejiang, a heavily forested, mountainous region in the province's southwest. It is celebrated for the Longquan celadon and sword-making traditions, both recognized as intangible cultural heritage. The Yunhe Rice Terraces and Xiandu's dramatic volcanic pillar draw landscape photographers and painters from across China. Its clean rivers and green mountains have made it a model for eco-tourism and outdoor recreation. Lishui Airport opened in 2025, ending the city's long wait for direct air links.
