📖 About the university

Tianfu College of Southwestern University of Finance and Economics is an independent college seated in the science and innovation park of Mianyang in northern Sichuan, with further campuses in Chengdu and in the Luojiang vocational-education park of Deyang. It began on 18 March 2002, when SWUFE — the Ministry of Education's flagship finance university in southwest China — set up its School of E-Commerce on the Fujiang campus in Mianyang, a project conceived with the People's Bank of China's simulated-bank laboratory to support the building of Mianyang's science city. In April 2006 the ministry approved converting that school into the Tianfu College, an independent college run with the Sichuan Weiao education investment company, which enrolled its first students the same September. The Chengdu east and west campuses opened in 2012 and the Deyang campus in November 2018. With around 25,000 undergraduate and associate students and some 1,375 full-time teachers across 59 programmes in economics, management, literature, art and engineering, it is one of the largest finance-oriented independent colleges in China, ranked third among them nationally in 2015. Accounting is the signature offering, taught in CPA, CMA, ACCA and AICPA tracks beside financial management, finance, cost engineering and information systems. Teaching is in Chinese and enrolment is domestic.
