📖 About the university

The People's Armed Police Academy is a military academy headquartered in the Shuangliu district of Chengdu, Sichuan province, tracing its lineage to the Southwest Military and Political University founded in February 1950. Its more direct predecessor, the Chengdu Command School of the Armed Police, was re-established in May 1984 from the teaching cadre of the Sichuan provincial armed police corps, and was renamed the Chengdu Command Academy of the Armed Police in 2000. In 2011 it was transformed from a junior command school into a joint academic-and-command training academy and took the name Armed Police Academy; on 22 July 2017, as part of a broader reorganisation of PLA and armed police institutions, it was reconstituted by merging the original Armed Police Academy with the Fuzhou Command Academy and Guangzhou Command Academy, and it now serves as the principal officer-training institution for armed police units south of the Yangtze River. The academy provides command, law, and public-order training for armed police officers, combining military discipline with academic instruction similar to a police or military college. As a specialised institution training officers for China's People's Armed Police Force, the academy does not offer general international student admission.
