Xinzhou Normal University was founded in 1958 and approved as a full-time undergraduate teacher-training institution by the Ministry of Education in 2000. It is a public university in Shanxi Province offering programs across education, arts, science, engineering and management. The university is well known for its long-standing rural teaching support program that sends students to serve schools in mountainous areas. Its campus is located in Xinzhou in northern Shanxi.
