Henan University of Chinese Medicine in Zhengzhou, founded in 1958, is the leading TCM university of Henan, China's most populous inland province and a heartland of Chinese medicine's history. It teaches Chinese medicine, acupuncture and tuina, Chinese pharmacy and clinical medicine, drawing on the legacy of the great physician Zhang Zhongjing, a native of Henan. Its affiliated hospitals serve a huge population. It welcomes international students into acupuncture and Chinese-medicine programmes. The university offers TCM study at the source of much of its tradition.
