📖 About the university
Kiang Wu Nursing College of Macau (KWNC) is a private, non-profit higher education institution under the Kiang Wu Hospital Charitable Association, and traces its history back to 1923, when the Kiang Wu Nurses and Midwives School was founded, making it the oldest nursing-education institution in Macau. In 1999 the Macau government formally recognised it as a private higher education institution, elevating it to college status and opening a new chapter in professional nursing education in the territory. The college launched Macau's first four-year Bachelor of Nursing Science degree in 2002 and introduced its own Master of Nursing Science programme in 2018, reflecting a steady progression from vocational training toward full higher education. It is closely linked to the century-old Kiang Wu Hospital, giving students extensive clinical placement opportunities within one of Macau's principal healthcare institutions. KWNC has earned institutional accreditation from the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) and nursing-programme accreditation recognised by mainland Chinese education-quality bodies, alongside recognition as an accredited course provider of Alzheimer's Disease International. Teaching is conducted mainly in Chinese, and the college is best suited to students seeking a focused, clinically grounded nursing education with strong ties to Macau's healthcare system.

🌆 About Macau
Macau is a Special Administrative Region on the western side of the Pearl River estuary, a former Portuguese enclave that returned to China in 1999 and is today the only place in the country where casino gaming is legal. Compact and densely populated, it is famous for a UNESCO-listed historic centre where baroque churches, cobbled squares, and Chinese temples stand side by side, most iconically the Ruins of St. Paul's. The territory has a humid subtropical climate with hot, humid summers and mild winters, and Cantonese, Portuguese, and increasingly English and Mandarin are all in use. Its economy, built on tourism and the integrated resorts of the Cotai Strip, gives it one of the highest per-capita incomes in the world and funds generous public services and student scholarships. Macau is linked to Hong Kong and Zhuhai by the record-breaking Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge and has its own international airport on Taipa island. For an international student, Macau offers a uniquely East-meets-West Sino-Portuguese culture, small class sizes, strong tourism and hospitality programmes, and a safe, walkable environment.
