📖 About the university

Kewen College of Jiangsu Normal University is a private undergraduate independent college in Xuzhou, a historic railway hub and ancient city in northern Jiangsu Province. It was approved in 2000 and reorganised as an independent college in 2005; when Xuzhou Normal University was renamed Jiangsu Normal University in 2012, the college's name changed accordingly. Operating two campuses, at Pan'an Lake and Quanshan, together covering more than 1,350 mu, it serves over 15,000 full-time students and employs several hundred teachers. The college is organised into six teaching schools offering around forty-five undergraduate programmes spanning literature, law, science, engineering, management, economics, education and the arts. A planned conversion into a vocational university with a higher-vocational college was halted in 2021, and it continues as an independent college. Its core strengths lie in the humanities, foreign languages, economics and management, engineering and art. It suits students seeking a broad, affordable undergraduate education backed by an established normal university in northern Jiangsu.

🌆 About Xuzhou

Xuzhou is a historic city in northern Jiangsu province and one of China's oldest, long prized as a strategic crossroads and the ancestral home region of the Han dynasty's founder. With a metropolitan population of around nine million, it is a major railway junction and coal and industrial base at the meeting point of four provinces. The climate is a temperate monsoon one, with hot, humid summers and cold, dry winters. Its heritage is deeply tied to the Han dynasty, seen in its own terracotta warrior museum, the Guishan Han tombs, and scenic Yunlong Lake and Mountain. Local cuisine is hearty and northern in character, well known for its distinctive morning sha soup and stewed lamb. A growing metro network, Guanyin International Airport, and a major high-speed rail interchange connect it to Beijing, Shanghai, and Nanjing. For an international student, Xuzhou offers very affordable living, deep ancient history, solid universities, and an excellent transport location for exploring eastern China.
