📖 About the university

Qingdao Film Academy is a specialised film and media university located beside the Jinsha Beach in the West Coast New Area of Qingdao, a major port city on the Shandong coast that has become a national centre for the film industry. The academy grew out of the Modern Creative Media College of the Beijing Film Academy, founded in 2011, and was approved by the Ministry of Education in 2021 to convert into an independent film-focused undergraduate institution; it is fully funded by a large Qingdao state-owned enterprise, giving it a state-invested private character. Set on a campus of around 509 mu, it is organised into nine teaching units including departments of literature, directing, performance, cinematography, sound recording, visual arts, animation arts and media management. It offers roughly twenty-seven undergraduate programmes built around a core of film disciplines and spanning art, management, law, literature and engineering. Its core strengths lie in film directing, acting, cinematography, sound recording and animation. It suits students pursuing careers in film, television and the wider creative-media industries, particularly given Qingdao's role in Chinese film production.
