Tibet University in Lhasa is the highest-altitude comprehensive university in the world and the flagship institution of the Tibet Autonomous Region, established in 1985. As a Project 211 and Double First-Class university, it leads national research on Tibetan language and culture, plateau ecology, and the biology of high-altitude environments.
