Zhengzhou University of Light Industry is a public university in the Henan capital, founded in 1977 within China's light-industry education system. It has distinctive strengths in electrical and information engineering, food and bioengineering, materials chemistry and, unusually, tobacco science and engineering — a nationally significant field given Henan's tobacco industry. The university serves the food, appliance and advanced-materials sectors of central China and hosts provincial research platforms. Its campuses in Zhengzhou enrol a large body of students across engineering, science, economics, management and the arts. International students are welcomed for Chinese-language study and engineering degrees.
