Jiangsu Police Institute is a provincial public undergraduate institution specializing in public security education, with roots going back to a police school founded in Nanjing in 1949. It became the country's first specialized public security school in 1982 and was upgraded to a full undergraduate college in 2002. The institute trains police officers and public security professionals for Jiangsu and the wider region. In recent years it gained authorization to award master's degrees in policing.
