📖 About the university
Chongqing Metropolitan College of Science and Technology is a private undergraduate institution whose main campus stands on Guangcai Avenue in Yongchuan district, in the western part of the Chongqing municipality. It was founded on 30 September 2005 as the Yuxi College of Chongqing University, a joint creation of Chongqing University and the Beijing North Investment Group, and was renamed City College of Science and Technology of Chongqing University in 2006. On 18 December 2020 the Ministry of Education approved its separation from Chongqing University and conversion into a free-standing private institution under the present name, wholly held by a Chongqing science-park company. Part of the Yongchuan campus occupies grounds that once belonged to a PLA research institute, and a second campus on Yanweishan Road in Banan district was completed and opened on 6 October 2023. The college teaches roughly 28,000 students in 48 bachelor programmes; civil engineering, cost engineering, electrical engineering and automation, and software engineering are listed among Chongqing's first-class undergraduate programmes, reflecting an inheritance of construction disciplines from Chongqing University. Eight schools span architecture and civil engineering, construction management, electrical engineering and intelligent manufacturing, artificial intelligence and big data, economics and management, art and media, humanities, and sport and health. Teaching is in Chinese and enrolment is domestic.

🌆 About Chongqing
Chongqing is a sprawling southwestern municipality built across steep hills where the Yangtze and Jialing rivers meet, giving it the nickname the mountain city. Its urban core holds around 16 million people, and its dramatic, multi-level terrain of bridges, tunnels, and cliffside buildings is unlike anywhere else in China. The climate is humid subtropical, with famously hot, humid summers and mild, often foggy winters. Landmarks include the glowing Hongya Cave stilt complex, the old Yangtze River cableway, Ciqikou ancient town, and the light-rail line that runs straight through a residential tower at Liziba. The city is the birthplace of fiery Chongqing hotpot, alongside spicy xiaomian noodles and laziji chicken. A distinctive metro and monorail system, Jiangbei International Airport, and high-speed rail connect its complex geography and the wider region. For an international student, Chongqing offers low living costs, dramatic scenery, and an intense, unforgettable urban experience.
