📖 About the university

Wuhan Vocational and Technical University is a full-time public vocational-bachelor's university located in Wuhan, Hubei, and in March 2025 became the first undergraduate-level vocational technology university in the province. Its earliest teaching history reaches back to 1972, and the institution developed as Wuhan Polytechnic before the Ministry of Education approved its establishment as Wuhan Vocational and Technical University in 2025. Its first vocational-bachelor's majors include optoelectronic information engineering technology, integrated-circuit engineering technology, mechanical design manufacturing and automation, information security and management, biological testing technology, and e-commerce. The university is organised into eleven secondary colleges offering some seventy programmes, including the Schools of Electronic Information Engineering, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Computer Technology and Software Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Business, Art and Design, Foreign Languages and Trade, Culture and Media, Tourism and Aviation Services, Textile and Garment Engineering, and Bioengineering. With a campus of roughly 2,122 mu and more than eighteen thousand students, it is one of central China's largest applied vocational institutions, historically strong in optoelectronics and information technology reflecting Wuhan's Optics Valley. As an applied vocational university it enrols primarily domestic students and does not currently advertise a dedicated Chinese-language pathway for international applicants.
