📖 About the university

Jiangxi University of Software Professional Technology is a private university in Nanchang, the capital of Jiangxi province, and it is one of very few Chinese higher-education institutions built entirely around software and digital media rather than treating them as one faculty among many. Its predecessor was established in 2003, it was approved for bachelor's-level vocational status in December 2018 as part of the first national batch, and it took its present name in May 2019. That first-batch selection is the clearest external marker of its standing: the Ministry of Education chose a small number of institutions to pilot the new vocational-bachelor's degree, and industry alignment was the deciding criterion. The university is organised around software engineering, digital media, artificial intelligence, information engineering, digital art and animation, and economics and management, so nearly every programme feeds the same cluster of software, games, animation and IT-services employers. Because it is a vocational-bachelor's institution, coursework is project-based and studio-based by design, with students shipping real software and animation work and completing extended enterprise placements rather than writing research papers. It holds no 985, 211 or Double First-Class designation and it is privately run, so tuition is higher than at a public school of similar rank; the trade-off is a tightly focused digital curriculum in a provincial capital with substantially lower living costs than Shenzhen or Hangzhou.
