📖 About the university

Soochow University College of Applied Technology is an independent college run by Soochow University and located in the water town of Zhouzhuang in Kunshan, Jiangsu Province. Founded in 1997, it was approved by the Ministry of Education in 2005 as an undergraduate secondary college operating under a new mechanism and model. The college offers around twenty-eight undergraduate majors, of which fashion design and engineering and electrical engineering and automation are recognised as Jiangsu provincial first-class programme construction points. It enrols more than nine thousand students, and more than sixty per cent of its teaching staff hold senior professional titles while some eighty per cent are dual-qualified "teacher-practitioner" instructors. Drawing on the academic strength of its parent Soochow University, a "double first-class" institution, it maintains a graduate employment rate above ninety-five per cent. Situated in the historic canal town of Zhouzhuang near Kunshan, it prepares applied talent for the textile, manufacturing and design industries of the Suzhou area.
