📖 About the university

Tianjin University of Science and Technology (TUST), founded in 1958 as the Hebei Institute of Light Industry, was one of the first four light-industry undergraduate colleges in China and was long affiliated with the national Ministry of Light Industry. In 1964 it absorbed the fermentation-engineering department of the Beijing Institute of Light Industry, and fermentation engineering remains a national key discipline and its most famous strength. The university reached full university status in 2002 and today spans biotechnology, food science, chemical engineering, marine and environmental science, mechanical engineering and more. Based in the Binhai New Area of Tianjin, close to the coast and major industry, it links teaching to real light-industry and food-processing sectors. TUST is a strong choice for students interested in food, fermentation and industrial biotechnology and admits international students.
