📖 About the university

Pingdingshan University is a public undergraduate university located in Pingdingshan City, Henan Province, administered by the Henan provincial authorities. It was founded in October 1959 as Pingdingshan Normal School, and in May 2004 it was approved by the Ministry of Education to be upgraded to a full undergraduate institution. The university comprises about 18 colleges and offers some 54 undergraduate majors spanning engineering, management, liberal arts, science, medicine, education, economics, art and law. It operates two campuses, Hubin and Chongwen, covering nearly 380 hectares, with around 21,000 full-time students and more than 1,500 teaching and administrative staff. Rooted in a normal-school tradition, the university's strengths include teacher education, chemical engineering and information engineering, while it also cultivates local Quyi folk-art and cultural studies distinctive to the region. Pingdingshan University admits international students and offers Chinese-language study opportunities.
