📖 About the university

Xiamen University (XMU) is a public research university in the coastal city of Xiamen in Fujian province, founded in 1921 by the overseas Chinese leader Tan Kah Kee, making it the first Chinese university established by an overseas Chinese benefactor. It is included in Project 985, Project 211, and the Double First-Class initiative. XMU is especially renowned for economics, accounting, and management, as well as chemistry and oceanography, and it has a strong tradition of research in the marine and environmental sciences. Its reputation in the business and economic disciplines is among the highest in the country.

The seaside campus in Xiamen is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful in China, blending gardens, historic architecture, and ocean views to create a distinctive setting for study and research. XMU maintains extensive international collaborations, including a branch campus in Malaysia, and hosts a large international student community.
