Fujian Chuanzheng Communications College is a full-time public higher-vocational college located in the Cangshan district of Fuzhou, the capital of Fujian. Its lineage reaches back to the Foochow Naval Academy (the Fujian Chuanzheng Academy) founded in 1866, China's first modern institution of higher technical and naval education, established alongside the Foochow Arsenal during the self-strengthening movement. The modern college was formed in 1999 by merging the Fujian Communications School, the Fujian Chuanzheng School, the Fujian Communications Cadre School and the Fujian Highway Technical School into the Fujian Communications Vocational and Technical College, which was renamed Fujian Chuanzheng Communications College in 2011. It is organised into around fourteen teaching units, including the Departments of Marine Engineering, Navigation Technology, Automotive Application Engineering and Management Engineering, together with programme clusters in transportation and civil engineering, mechanical and intelligent manufacturing, information technology, general aviation and rail transit. A national demonstrative and high-level (double-high) vocational college, it is one of China's most distinguished institutions for maritime, navigation and transport education, carrying forward the heritage of the historic Chuanzheng academy. As an applied vocational college it enrols primarily domestic students and does not currently advertise a dedicated Chinese-language pathway for international applicants.
