📖 About the university

Tiangong University in Tianjin traces its roots to the Weaving Department of the Beijing Industrial Specialized School founded in 1912, making it one of the oldest homes of textile higher education in China. It ran independently from 1958, was long known as Tianjin Polytechnic University, and adopted the name Tiangong University in 2019. In 2017 its textile science and engineering discipline was selected for national “Double First-Class” world-class-discipline construction, and it operates the largest and most modern textile college in north China. Around its textile core the university has grown into a comprehensive institution strong in advanced materials, separation-membrane technology, electrical engineering and computer science. Based in Xiqing, Tianjin, it combines a century of industrial heritage with modern engineering research and welcomes international students.
