📖 About the university

Tianjin Tianshi College is a private full-time undergraduate institution at 15 Yuanquan Road in the Wuqing development area of Tianjin, roughly midway between Tianjin and Beijing on the high-speed corridor that links the two cities. It was founded in July 1999 as the Tianshi Vocational Technical College, invested and organised by the Tiens Group, the Tianjin-based health-products multinational founded by Li Jinyuan, and in April 2008 the Ministry of Education approved its upgrade into a full undergraduate institution under the present name. The college operates under a board-of-directors system chaired by the group's founder, with a president responsible for academic affairs. Its programme mix reflects the founding company's industries: business administration, marketing and international trade sit beside biotechnology, food and health-science tracks, together with information technology, languages and design. The Wuqing location places students inside one of north China's fastest-growing manufacturing and logistics districts, with commuter rail into both Tianjin and Beijing. Teaching is in Chinese and enrolment is domestic.

🌆 About Tianjin

Tianjin is a major northern port municipality on the Bohai Gulf, historically Beijing's gateway to the sea and a former treaty port with rich colonial architecture. With a metropolitan population of around 14 million, it combines a busy modern port and financial district with atmospheric old European quarters. The climate is a temperate monsoon one, giving hot, humid summers and cold, dry, windy winters. Landmarks include the Tianjin Eye ferris wheel built on a bridge, the elegant Five Great Avenues, the Ancient Culture Street, and the mosaic-covered Porcelain House. Tianjin has a lively snack culture famed for Goubuli steamed buns, Shibajie fried dough twists, and guobacai. It runs a modern metro, Binhai International Airport, and sits just half an hour from Beijing by high-speed rail. For an international student, Tianjin offers big-city amenities and strong universities at lower cost than Beijing, with the capital right next door.
