📖 About the university

Huaihua University is a public undergraduate university located in Huaihua City in western Hunan Province, under the administration of the Hunan Provincial Department of Education. It was founded in 1958 as Huaihua Teachers College and was approved by the Ministry of Education in 2002 to upgrade to a full-time general undergraduate institution. The university operates east and west campuses covering roughly 1,158 mu, with a student body of around 18,000 and more than 860 faculty members. It comprises about 21 teaching departments offering some 49 undergraduate programs across literature, education, science, engineering, economics, management and the arts. Located in a region rich in Miao, Dong and other ethnic minority cultures, the university is noted for its research on local ethnic heritage as well as teacher education and chemistry. Huaihua University welcomes international students and offers Chinese-language instruction for those studying in China.
