📖 About the university

Nanjing Vocational College of Information Technology is a public higher vocational college in Jiangsu Province specialising in electronics, information and communication technology. Its predecessor was the Nanjing Radio Industry School, founded in 1953 as the first secondary technical school for electronics established in the People's Republic of China, and the school was visited over the years by Premier Zhou Enlai and by leaders including Chen Yi, Tan Zhenlin and Xi Zhongxun. The college is a national demonstration (backbone) higher vocational college, a Ministry of Education high-quality vocational college, a Jiangsu high-level and 'excellent' vocational college, and a Category B institution in the national plan for Chinese-characteristic high-level higher vocational schools and specialisms. Its campus stands in the Xianlin University Town in Qixia District, north-east Nanjing, occupying about 1,000 mu among the science parks and universities of the district. More than thirteen thousand students study there across fourteen teaching units, including the schools of electronic information, network and communication, artificial intelligence, intelligent manufacturing, intelligent transportation, digital business, digital arts, non-commissioned-officer education and international education. The college is closely tied to Jiangsu's electronics and integrated-circuit industries and runs an International Education School that receives overseas students and supports cooperative training projects abroad.

🌆 About Nanjing

Nanjing is the capital of Jiangsu province and one of China's great ancient capitals, having served as the seat of several dynasties. With a metropolitan population of around nine million, it is a green, tree-lined city on the Yangtze River rich in historical significance. The climate is humid subtropical, giving hot, humid summers and cold, damp winters. Its landmarks include the grand Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum on Purple Mountain, the lively Confucius Temple district, the massive Ming-era city wall, and tranquil Xuanwu Lake. Local cuisine is refined, famed for Nanjing salted duck and duck blood vermicelli soup. An extensive metro system, Lukou International Airport, and high-speed rail place Shanghai barely more than an hour away. For an international student, Nanjing combines deep history, leading universities, comfortable living costs, and an atmosphere that is cultured yet less frantic than the largest megacities.
