📖 About the university

Zhongyuan Institute of Science and Technology is a private undergraduate institution operating in Zhengzhou and Xinxiang in Henan province. It began enrolling in 2003 as the Xinlian College of Henan Normal University, an independent college backed by the province's leading teacher-training university, teaching on two campuses: one in Xinxiang beside its parent and a purpose-built Zhengzhou campus of 961 mu whose planning and architecture were led by He Jingtang, the academician who designed the China Pavilion of the Shanghai World Expo. In 2014 its students took a national first prize in the university engineering-graphics and product-modelling competition, and on 2 February 2021 the Ministry of Education approved the college's separation from Henan Normal University and conversion into a free-standing private institution under the present name. Its 16,500 students study a catalogue in which teacher education — Chinese, English, mathematics, music and early-childhood tracks descending from the normal-university lineage — sits beside computer science, engineering, economics, management and arts programmes. The motto is generous virtue, broad learning, earnest practice and innovation. Teaching is in Chinese and enrolment is domestic.
