📖 About the university
Tianjin Ren'ai College is a private full-time undergraduate institution in Jinghai district of Tianjin, beside the Tuanbo new town on the lake of the same name. It was founded in 2006 as the Renai College of Tianjin University, an independent college of one of China's oldest and most prestigious engineering universities, created together with the Tianjin Renai Group; in 2021 it converted into a free-standing private institution and took its present name, remaining wholly held by the Renai Group. The Tianjin University lineage stamped the college with an engineering character it retains: mechanical, electrical, electronic and information, civil, chemical and computer programmes dominate the catalogue, joined by management, economics, languages and design. The college inherited curricula and early teaching staff from its parent, and its graduates feed the manufacturing, chemical and construction employers of the Tianjin-Hebei industrial belt. The lakeside campus in Jinghai offers a quieter setting roughly half an hour from Tianjin's city centre. Teaching is in Chinese and enrolment is domestic.

🌆 About Tianjin
Tianjin is a major northern port municipality on the Bohai Gulf, historically Beijing's gateway to the sea and a former treaty port with rich colonial architecture. With a metropolitan population of around 14 million, it combines a busy modern port and financial district with atmospheric old European quarters. The climate is a temperate monsoon one, giving hot, humid summers and cold, dry, windy winters. Landmarks include the Tianjin Eye ferris wheel built on a bridge, the elegant Five Great Avenues, the Ancient Culture Street, and the mosaic-covered Porcelain House. Tianjin has a lively snack culture famed for Goubuli steamed buns, Shibajie fried dough twists, and guobacai. It runs a modern metro, Binhai International Airport, and sits just half an hour from Beijing by high-speed rail. For an international student, Tianjin offers big-city amenities and strong universities at lower cost than Beijing, with the capital right next door.
