📖 About the university
Lingnan University is a public liberal-arts university in Hong Kong whose lineage reaches back to the Christian College founded in Canton (Guangzhou) in 1888; it was re-established in Hong Kong in 1967 and gained full university status in 1999. Its compact, collegiate campus in Tuen Mun in the western New Territories is designed to foster close staff-student contact and a residential community, a rarity in Hong Kong. The university deliberately keeps its enrolment small and is organised into faculties of Arts, Business, and Social Sciences, together with a School of Graduate Studies and a School of Data Science, teaching primarily in English. Modelled on the American liberal-arts tradition, Lingnan emphasises broad-based, whole-person education, small classes, and near-universal opportunities for international exchange and hostel residence. It has earned particular recognition for business and management, philosophy, translation, and for its outstanding performance in sustainability and quality-education rankings, where it has repeatedly placed first in the world for SDG Quality Education. With its intimate scale and strong pastoral care, Lingnan suits students who want a personal, discussion-based education rather than the anonymity of a large research campus.

🌆 About Hong Kong
Hong Kong is a Special Administrative Region on the southern coast of China and one of the world's leading financial, trading, and logistics hubs, where Cantonese Chinese culture blends seamlessly with a British-influenced international outlook. Built around one of the finest deep-water harbours in the world, the territory packs a dramatic skyline of skyscrapers against steep green mountains and outlying islands, with Victoria Harbour at its heart. Its climate is humid subtropical, bringing hot, humid summers with occasional typhoons and mild, dry winters. English and Chinese are both official languages, and the city is famous for its efficient MTR metro, double-decker trams and buses, and Hong Kong International Airport, one of the busiest in the world. Everyday life mixes Michelin-starred dining and dim sum teahouses with street markets, temples, hiking trails, and beaches, all within easy reach. For an international student, Hong Kong offers a concentration of world-ranked universities, a genuinely global environment, and easy travel across Asia, though living costs and rents are among the highest in the region.
