Shenyang Ligong University (SYLU), founded in 1948, is an engineering university in Liaoning with a distinctive heritage in ordnance and equipment engineering. Growing out of the northeast's defence-industry base, it is strong in mechanical engineering, equipment and armament technology, materials science, automation and information engineering. The university maintains close links with the manufacturing and equipment industries of the northeast rust belt as it modernises. Its campus lies in Shenyang, the largest city of northeast China.
