📖 About the university

Naval University of Engineering is a military engineering university in the Qiaokou district of Wuhan, Hubei province, affiliated with the People's Liberation Army Navy. Its history began in May 1949 as the Andong Naval Academy, which was renamed the Dalian Naval Academy later that year and became the PLA Second Naval Academy in 1950; it was reorganised as the PLA Naval Academy of Engineering in 1975 and took its present name in 1999 after merging with the PLA Naval Academy of Electronic Engineering, with the PLA Naval Logistics Academy folded in during a further reorganisation in 2004. The university was designated a national key university as early as 1963 and today spans four campuses covering more than 1.4 million square metres, anchored by its main campus in Wuhan. It is organised into colleges covering fields such as science, power engineering, electronic engineering, electrical engineering, and logistics, and hosts national key disciplines and national key laboratories reflecting its focus on naval propulsion, weapons, and electronic systems. The university trains engineering officers responsible for the design, operation, and maintenance of naval vessels and their power, weapons, and electronic systems, making it one of the PLA Navy's principal technical training institutions. As a PLA Navy institution focused on training Chinese naval engineering officers, it does not offer a general international student admissions track.

🌆 About Wuhan

Wuhan is the capital of Hubei province and the largest city in central China, formed from three historic towns where the Yangtze and Han rivers meet. With a metropolitan population of around 13 million, it is a major hub for transport, industry, and higher education, home to a dense concentration of universities. The climate is humid subtropical and known for very hot, humid summers that earn it a reputation as one of China's furnaces, along with cold, damp winters. Landmarks include the historic Yellow Crane Tower, the vast East Lake, the pioneering Yangtze River Bridge, and the snack-lined Hubu Alley. Local food is famous for hot dry noodles, Wuchang fish, and spicy duck neck. An expanding metro network, Tianhe International Airport, and a central high-speed rail position make it one of the country's best-connected cities. For an international student, Wuhan offers a huge student population, strong universities, affordable living, and a lively, youthful energy.
