📖 About the university

Shanghai University of Medicine and Health Sciences is a public application-oriented undergraduate institution in Shanghai and was the first national undergraduate medical college in China to carry the word 'health' in its name. It was established in 2015 through the merger of the former Shanghai Medical Instrumentation Higher Specialty School, the Shanghai Medical Devices and Pharmaceutical higher-specialty schools and the Shanghai Health Vocational and Technical College, institutions whose histories reach back to the 1950s. The university focuses on health and medical technology fields rather than solely clinical medicine, with schools of nursing and health management, medical imaging, pharmacy, medical instrumentation and rehabilitation sciences. Its distinctive strengths lie in nursing, medical imaging technology, medical instrumentation and rehabilitation therapy, reflecting Shanghai's demand for skilled allied-health and biomedical-engineering professionals.
