Shenyang Agricultural University is a key agricultural university in Liaoning's capital, founded in 1952 with contributions from the agronomist and revolutionary Zhang Kexia. It is strong in agronomy, horticulture, plant protection and soil science, and is especially noted for research on protected (greenhouse) horticulture and northeastern crop systems.
