Southwest University of Political Science and Law (SWUPL), founded in 1950, is one of China's earliest and most influential law universities and the leading legal institution of southwest China. Long regarded as one of the country's most important 'cradles of jurists', it has trained a very large share of China's senior judges, prosecutors, lawyers and legal scholars. Its strengths lie across civil and commercial law, criminal justice, economic law, administrative law and international law. Located on a large campus in Chongqing's Yubei district, it is a national key university for legal education. SWUPL welcomes international students interested in the Chinese legal system.
