📖 About the university

Xinjiang Normal University, founded in 1978, is the main teacher-training university of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region. It trains most of the region's teachers across the arts, sciences, education, languages and the arts, and is important for the teaching of the Chinese language and for education in a multi-ethnic frontier region. It plays a key role in bilingual education and cultural exchange among Xinjiang's Uyghur, Han, Kazakh and other communities. Its campuses in the regional capital Urumqi make it a centre of higher education in the northwest. The university welcomes international students, notably from Central Asia, wishing to study Chinese and education.
