Zhenyuan has no metro. The station is close to the historic old town on the Wuyang River; it is reachable on foot or by a short taxi ride.

Built in 1974 as a third-class station on the Shanghai–Kunming railway, under the Kaili Railway Segment of China Railway Chengdu Group. It serves the ancient town of Zhenyuan, known for Ming-Qing riverside architecture along the Wuyang River.
