🚇 To & from the city centre
Qingdao's largest railway station, in Chengyang District on Jiaozhou Bay, away from the old city centre. The easiest way in is Qingdao Metro Line 8: the interchange passage between the 'Hongdao Railway Station' metro stop and the railway station opened on 1 July 2023, letting you walk straight from the concourse to the metro. Line 8 connects to central Qingdao and the business district; city buses and taxis are also available.
- Qingdao Metro 8 Hongdao Railway Station (红岛火车站)
It formally opened on 1 July 2023 after years of delay, as the designed terminus of the Jinan–Qingdao high-speed railway. The station building covers 70,000 sqm with a design of 10 platforms and 20 tracks, making it the largest railway station in Qingdao and the second largest in Shandong province. It is known as China's first sea-view high-speed station, its wave-shaped roof meaning 'watching the sea, listening to the waves'. It is a full interchange complex combining high-speed rail, intercity rail, metro, city buses and taxis. Warning: do not confuse it with Qingdao North or Qingdao West stations.
