Ning'an has no metro. The station sits inside Ning'an town itself; walk or take a taxi into the centre, and use local buses or a taxi for the nearby Jingpo Lake scenic area.

Built in 1935 as part of the Tujia railway linking Mudanjiang and Jiamusi, the station handles both passengers and freight. It is the closest rail gateway to the well-known Jingpo Lake and the historic Upper Capital ruins of the ancient Bohai kingdom nearby.
