The Xianxian Ancient Tomb, also called the Tomb of Abi Waqqas (Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas), is traditionally said to hold the grave of a companion of the Prophet Muhammad sent to Guangzhou around 628 CE in the Tang dynasty. The walled complex, west of Lanpu Garden, covers more than 24,000 m², is a key national cultural relic and a recognized witness to the Maritime Silk Road. Its large two-story prayer hall, built in 2010 for the Asian Games, blends Islamic and Lingnan styles and can hold nearly 2,500 worshippers — the largest mosque in Guangdong. It is a major pilgrimage site, especially for foreign and Arab Muslims.

🚇 How to reach the mosque
- Line 2 Yuexiu Park （越秀公园）
Buses along Jiefang North Road stop near Yuexiu Park and Lanpu Garden; check a transit app for the closest stop.
From Sanyuanli (Line 2) ride Line 2 south directly to Yuexiu Park (about 10 minutes); from the Xiaobei Arab quarter it is a 10-minute taxi. This is the site most visited by Arab pilgrims.
From central Guangzhou take Metro Line 2 to Yuexiu Park; the tomb complex is on Jiefang North Road just west of Lanpu Garden, a short walk away.
