📜 About & history
The complex honours Sultan Satuq Bughra Khan (d. c. 955), the first Karakhanid ruler to convert to Islam, whose adoption of the faith began the Islamisation of the Tarim Basin. Atush is traditionally cited as home to one of the earliest mosques in Xinjiang, established with a Bukharan Samanid merchant's dispensation. The mausoleum was restored in 1995 by the Uyghur architect Abdurehim Ashan.

🚇 How to reach the mosque
Local buses and shared taxis run from Atush city centre toward Songtake township; ask for 'Sutuk Bughrakhan mazar'.
Traders in this area gather in Kashgar (Grand Bazaar), ~1 hour south; from Kashgar drive north via G3012/G314 to Atush, then west to Songtake.
About 10-15 km west of Atush city centre; roughly 20-30 minutes by taxi. Atush lies about 40 km north of Kashgar.
One of the most revered early-Islamic sites for Uyghurs. Bring water; facilities are basic. Uyghur halal food in Atush town. Photography may be restricted.
