Zhangye's Nanguan Mosque, in the Ganzhou District of the Hexi Corridor, was first built in 1671 during the Kangxi reign of the Qing dynasty. It was damaged in the warfare of the Tongzhi era and rebuilt on its present site as a courtyard complex in 1915. Religious activity ceased after 1958 and the hall was demolished, but the mosque was restored from 1980, and in 1985 Zhangye's first Islamic Association was established here. The main hall, rebuilt in 1990, covers about 370 square metres and blends Chinese palace and Arabic styles with a hexagonal minaret, lecture hall and bathhouse.

The mosque is in the Nanguan (south-gate) area of Ganzhou District; local buses run along nearby roads and a taxi from central Zhangye is short.
The main congregational mosque for Zhangye's Hui community, with halal (清真) food available nearby; dress modestly.
From central Ganzhou District (near the Drum Tower) head to the Nanguan area; a short taxi or bus ride south of the old town.
