📜 About & history

Banqiao Daotang is the principal lodge (daotang) of the Banqiao branch (menhuan) of the Jahriyya Sufi order of Chinese Islam, located about 20 li northwest of the historic Jinji Fort near Wuzhong. It was established in 1943 and forms an integrated religious compound comprising the daotang (teaching lodge), a gongbei (domed shrine/tomb), and a mosque. As a center of Jahriyya devotion it is an important node in the history of Sufism in northwest China. It is listed as a provincial-level protected cultural relic of Ningxia.
