Illustrative, general educational examples — not real specific facts and not legal advice; for awareness only. For an actual situation, consult a licensed lawyer.
Situation: A foreigner rented a private flat but never registered his address at the police station; at visa renewal the missing registration surfaced and he was fined. Rule: every foreigner staying in private housing must register their address with the police within 24 hours of arrival or moving (hotels do it for you). Failing to register is a punishable violation — warning or fine. Lesson: after any move to new housing, register within 24 hours and keep the registration slip (住宿登记).

🎓 The lesson / takeaway

After any new address, register within 24 hours and keep the slip.
