Zhangping

Zhangping is a county-level city in Longyan prefecture in the mountainous interior of Fujian, where the boundaries of Longyan, Zhangzhou, Quanzhou and Sanming meet. Established as a county in 1470 and upgraded to a city in 1990, it sits amid subtropical hills laced with tea gardens and forests. It is famous for Zhangping Narcissus (Shuixian) tea, the only oolong pressed into cake or "paper-wrapped" form and a national geographical-indication product. Its town of Yongfu hosts the large Fujian–Zhangping Taiwan Farmers' Pioneering Park, a cross-strait high-mountain-tea base that in spring turns into a celebrated sea of cherry blossoms. The economy rests on tea, forestry, high-mountain agriculture and rail-linked industry, as Zhangping is a junction on the Yingtan–Xiamen railway. Its climate is warm and wet year-round. For a visitor, Zhangping offers tea culture, spring blossoms and green mountain scenery.
