Yiyang

In Hunan province

Yiyang is a city in northern Hunan on the Zi River, straddling the transition from Dongting Lake plains to the mountains of western Hunan. Its Anhua county is the historic home of Chinese dark tea (heicha), traded along old tea-horse routes and still a major industry. The area is known for bamboo crafts and freshwater fishing around the lake wetlands. Qingxi village is celebrated as the setting of writer Zhou Libo's novels. Rice, tea and aquaculture underpin the largely agricultural economy.
