Wuzhou

In Guangxi province

Wuzhou sits in eastern Guangxi at the confluence of the Gui, Xun and Xijiang rivers, historically the gateway between Guangxi and Guangdong. Once a major river port and treaty port, it retains a well-known district of arcade-style qilou shophouses reflecting its trading past. The city is celebrated for turtle jelly (guilinggao), paper-wrapped chicken and locally cultivated pearls. The revered Longmu Temple draws pilgrims honoring the legendary Dragon Mother. Wuzhou today is a hub for artificial gemstone processing and cross-border commerce.
