Nandan

Nandan is a county in Hechi prefecture in the mountainous northwest of Guangxi, on the border with Guizhou. Rich in non-ferrous metals, it is nicknamed "China's Tin Capital" and a "home of non-ferrous metals," with more than twenty proven minerals underpinning a mining and metallurgy economy alongside farming of kiwifruit, plums and free-range Yaoshan chicken. Nandan is also the heartland of the Baiku (White-Trouser) Yao, an ethnic group of about 30,000 famed for their distinctive dress and living folk traditions, showcased at the 4A-rated Geyasigu folk park and the Lihu Yao villages. The county is home to the well-known Danquan liquor brand, whose cave cellars form a scenic attraction, and is served by the Guizhou–Guangxi railway. Its subtropical highland climate is mild and rainy. For a visitor, Nandan offers immersive ethnic culture, karst mountain scenery and distinctive local produce.
