Langzhong

In Sichuan province

Langzhong is a county-level city administered by Nanchong in northeastern Sichuan, one of China's four best-preserved ancient cities, cradled in a bend of the Jialing River and ringed by hills. Its lattice of Tang and Song streets, courtyard houses and the Zhang Fei Temple recall the Three Kingdoms era, and it was long a centre of Chinese astronomy and the Ba-Shu culture. The town is known for Baoning vinegar and Zhang Fei beef, and hosts vivid Spring Festival celebrations. For an international student, Langzhong offers immersive heritage, riverside beauty and an authentic slice of old Sichuan.
