Bozhou

In Anhui province

Bozhou is a historic city in the far northwest of Anhui on the Guo River, famed as the ancestral home of the Three Kingdoms warlord Cao Cao and the physician Hua Tuo. Beneath the old town runs an extensive network of Han-dynasty underground tunnels attributed to Cao Cao's army. The city is China's largest trading hub for traditional Chinese medicinal herbs, earning it the title 'Medicine Capital of China.' It is also home to Gujing Gong, one of the country's celebrated baijiu brands. Bozhou Airport opened in late 2025, and high-speed trains stop at Bozhou South.
