A unique historic bridge over the Han River outside the east gate of Chaozhou's old city, begun in 1171 CE and combining beam spans, a pontoon section and stone arches over about 518 metres. The central pontoon of eighteen wooden boats is opened to let ships through, and the bridge is counted among China's four famous ancient bridges.
